Fire Safety Tips

  • Plan Your Escape – Create and practice a home escape plan with your family.
  • Keep Matches and Lighters in a Safe Area – Always keep matches and lighters stored high in a locked cabinet or a locked box. Kids imitate adults, set a safe example.
  • Cook Safely – Never leave cooking unattended and keep the cooking area clutter free.
  • Give Space Heaters Space – Keep anything that can burn three feet away from portable heaters.
  • Extinguish Smoking Materials – Before emptying the contents of an ashtray into the trash, wet the contents.
  • Electrical Safety – Replace damaged electrical cords and repair or replace appliances that smell, smoke, or overheat.
  • Spring and Fall – Change your Detector Batteries
  • Test Your Smoke Alarm – Install a smoke alarm on every floor of your home and outside all sleeping areas. Test the smoke alarms once a month and change the batteries twice a year.

Weather Alert Test Sirens are

sounded on the 1st Tuesday

of every month

at 10 a.m.

Note: 

There is no all clear siren rung after a tornado.

Fire sirens are only rung between 8 am and 8 pm.

Burning Hours

Burning is permitted, on Mondays through Saturdays, and on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. between October 1st and May 1st of each year.

No burning is allowed on Sundays from May 1st to October 1st.

Burning of building & construction materials is NOT allowed.  

No burn barrels will be allowed at this time.

No leaf burning is allowed on city streets and sidewalks; except on brick streets with such burning limited to waste generated by the lot immediately adjacent to the city street.. Burning of leaves is allowed on private property with supervision present until the fire is extinguished.

Yard waste must be fully extinguished by 4 p.m., nothing should be left to smolder.

There is no burning for 48 hours after a minimum of ½” rainfall.

Recreation Fires are still permitted.

No Burning allowed on any days that Hall High School has a home football game.
